Terms of Use
Last updated: 2 October 2026
Play fair, be kind, and keep personal details to yourself. By playing online you accept these terms.
1. The game
Dots & Boxes is a free game. You may install it and play it for personal, non-commercial use. Playing offline needs no agreement beyond this one and sends no data.
2. Online play
Online play puts you in a room with other people. Before the first online match the game shows the safety rules and asks for your year of birth. If you are under 13, typed chat and custom names are turned off. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you.
3. Rules of conduct
When you play online you agree not to:
- insult, harass, threaten or bully other players;
- use hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise offensive language, in chat or in your player name;
- ask for or share personal information: real names, addresses, schools, phone numbers, social media accounts or passwords;
- send links, advertising or spam;
- pretend to be someone else, or to be the developer or a moderator;
- cheat, use automated players, or interfere with the server or with other players' matches.
4. Moderation
Names and chat messages pass through an automatic filter. You can mute or report any player from the chat panel. Reports are reviewed, and a player who breaks the rules can have their chat restricted or be blocked from online play, without notice. A player reported by several people may be restricted automatically for a time.
5. What you write
You are responsible for the name you choose and the messages you send. You allow us to transmit them to the other players in your room and to store them for a short time as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Availability
The game and the online service are provided "as is". The online service may be slow, unavailable or switched off at any time, and matches in progress may be lost. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from the use of the game.
7. Changes
These terms may change. The new version is published on this page with a new date, and the game asks you to accept the online rules again when they change.
